Orientation at Doon Global School

Orientation

New Student & Parent Orientation

Orientation arrangements can change by class, session and whether a student joins the day or boarding programme. Use this page as a checklist of topics to confirm with the school, including the reporting date, arrival instructions, timetable, required documents, named contacts and any campus familiarisation offered to new families.

Ask Admissions for the current written programme rather than relying on a schedule from an earlier year. If your child needs accessibility, medical, dietary, language or transition support, raise it before the joining date so the responsible team can explain the arrangements that are currently available.

What to Confirm Before Orientation

The school should confirm which of these items applies to your child's current joining programme.

01

Welcome Address

Ask who will brief new families and which school policies, contacts and expectations will be covered.

02

Campus Tour

Confirm whether a tour is included and which day-school or boarding spaces your child will actually use.

03

Meet the Faculty

Ask which class teacher, subject teacher, house or administrative contacts will be introduced.

04

Academic Briefing

Request the current timetable, subject choices, assessment scheme, homework guidance and academic calendar.

05

Student Activities

Ask which activities, clubs, sports and house arrangements are available for the relevant class and session.

06

Q&A Session

Prepare questions on attendance, transport, boarding, communication, leave, safety and daily routines.

Topics a Current Orientation May Cover

This is not a fixed event timetable. Obtain the date, start time, venue and sequence directly from the school for the year of admission.

Arrival and Registration

Confirm the reporting gate, parking or transport instructions, documents to carry and whether the student must attend.

School Policies and Contacts

Request the current handbook, attendance and communication rules, escalation contacts and emergency information.

Academic Briefing

Confirm subjects, books, timetable, assessment, homework, digital access and the appropriate academic contact.

Campus Familiarisation

Ask to see the classroom and relevant shared, activity, transport or residential spaces included in the current programme.

Named Staff Contacts

Record the class, subject, pastoral, transport, accounts or house contacts that apply to the student.

Activities and Daily Routine

Verify current activity choices, eligibility, equipment, schedules, transport implications and any additional written charges.

Individual Questions

Ask how to raise confidential academic, welfare, accessibility or medical information with the responsible member of staff.

Next Steps

Leave with written confirmation of the joining date, outstanding documents, payment status, uniform instructions and first-day arrangements.

Questions About the First Days

Transition support differs by age group and session. Before joining, ask which arrangements are currently used and who the student should contact if they need help.

  • Peer Support: Ask whether a buddy, prefect or class representative is assigned to new students.
  • Class Introduction: Confirm how the teacher introduces routines, classmates, subject rooms and break-time arrangements.
  • Written Guidance: Request the current map, timetable, contacts, uniform rules, transport details and boarding routine where applicable.
  • Welfare Contact: Ask who checks how a new student is settling in and how the child or parent can request support.
