What Runs Alongside the CBSE Curriculum

In short

Doon Global School runs Goalkeepers, its own pre-admission programme, and Skill-ed Primary for the primary years. It works with Prayaas Assessments for independent CBSE mock boards, and with Bengaluru FC Soccer Schools, Centurion Defence Academy and Kidnasium for sport, defence preparation and fitness. NCC and NSS units run on campus.

Every CBSE school teaches the same syllabus. What differs is what a school builds around it. This page lists the programmes at Doon Global School that have a name, says plainly what each one is, and says who runs it. Where a programme belongs to a partner organisation, the description is that organisation's own and links to its website.

Programmes change by class and by session. Use this page to know what to ask about, then confirm the current arrangements for your child's class with the admissions office.

Goalkeepers

The way the school gets to know a child before admission. A family receives two written notes: My First Step, from what the child says about themselves on a first visit, and The Road Ahead, after the entrance assessment. Both describe growth in three bands, Emerging, Growing and Strong, and neither prints a mark.

Skill-ed Primary

The name of the primary-years programme: activity-based learning, creative exploration and core academic skills, before subject specialists take over in the middle school. Skill-ed also runs kindergarten and day-care centres in Dehradun under its own name, at skill-ed.in.

Prayaas Assessments

Prayaas Assessments runs an independent mock board for CBSE Class X and Class XII students, anchored in Dehradun. It is not a school and not a coaching institute: the paper is set and marked outside the school that teaches the child.

By its own description, candidates sit the paper under board conditions and each receives a diagnostic report: a Board Readiness Score, a topic-by-topic analysis and an improvement plan. Prayaas reports that more than 850 students from 12 partner schools were assessed in its first edition, in December 2024.

Prayaas is one of the school's associates. Ask the school which classes are sitting the current edition, on which dates, and how teachers use the reports afterwards. More at prayaassessments.com.

NCC and NSS

National Cadet Corps

The school's NCC unit works under the motto Unity and Discipline, building fitness, teamwork and leadership through structured training. Ask about current eligibility, training days and camps.

NCC at DGS

National Service Scheme

NSS brings community service into school life under the motto Not Me But You. For Grades 11 and 12, the day-school fee schedule states that fees include mandatory NSS membership.

Partner Organisations

Organisations the school works alongside. Each is described in its own words.

Bengaluru FC Soccer Schools

The youth coaching programme of Bengaluru Football Club, a professional club in Indian football. Ask which age groups train, on which days and who coaches.

Centurion Defence Academy

A coaching academy for defence entrance examinations and interviews, including NDA, CDS, AFCAT and SSB, with classroom courses in Lucknow and Dehradun. Ask which classes the tie-up covers.

Three questions to ask about any programme

  • Which classes is it for this session, and is my child's class one of them?
  • Is it part of the fee, or charged separately?
  • Who runs it on campus, and how often?
